"Dude looks like a lady."-- Aerosmith

I guess I should start with a brief introduction to the new group. Dan, our leader, was a Kiwi, Hannah, the leader in training, was a Brit. There were two other Americans from New York, Sharene and Sharu (sisters). Matt and Holly are brother and sister, british/Scottish/Singaporean depending on the occasion. Laura and Tara are another pair of sisters who were traveling with their friend Alex, also all British. Rhys is the last of the Brits. There was also Angie and Thomas who were friends traveling together, from Northern Ireland. Kim is from Scottland. Erst… was …well there really just aren’t words… but he was older Swiss… And finally, Abby and Colin are a couple from Australia. Yes, this was a huge group

The new group was pretty cool to start out with… like I said before we went out to dinner in Bangkok… had some drinks watched some soccer, blah blah blah…

Next morning… did some shopping… then it was off to the train station for yet another all night train….

While we were waiting in the station… we hit up a dairy queen and I got these pictures of a monk just chillin out reading the newspaper…

Riding the train…Again a great way to start to get to know people… Unfortunately the party carriage was not nearly what it was last time due to the music being down… nor did I really sleep that much…

But I got a great sunset picture.

The most amusing part of the train ride was our first taste of all the lady boys. All throughout Thailand are the lady boys… Most often they are our waitresses… Nicest people on earth, banter back and forth w/ Dan b/c he knows them all… and then for whatever reason they loved Rhys… which was incredibly funny… particularly b/c Rhys is a character in and of himself…

For instance… he had these bbq peanuts… which he opened on the train… and the can just exploded everywhere… so we got them all cleaned up… but he kept the can of them… so we’re riding to the jungle, he reaches in his bag… and its just full of these peanuts b/c the can exploded again… so… we just started chucking them out the back… hence the picture.
